WELCOME BACK GUEST BLOGGER: MEGHAN DONOVAN OF WIT & WHIMSY

With a love for fashion, beauty and a case of wanderlust, we teamed up again with Meghan Donovan to put together classic outfits from our July collection that are sure to maximize your wardrobe for everything your packed schedule may contain, both this season and as we head into fall. This guest blog post showcases transitional pieces that can be worn multiple ways now and later, from work to weekend and everything in-between. Talk about lessening your workload. These pieces get the job done for you so you don’t have to put anything on pause. This summer capsule wardrobe includes the perfect way to style our summer soft cashmeres, crisp Alcott blouse, and white bottoms to sport before Labor Day sneaks up, if you’re a rule follower (we’re not...bring on the winter whites!) Read on to see how Meghan styles these pieces multiple ways, and how she plans on making them last through fall.

STYLISH PIECES TO WEAR NOW, WEAR LATER & WEAR MULTIPLE WAYS.

WEAR NOW // WEAR LATER

If you’re like me, you are already thinking ahead to transitional dressing as we head towards fall...summer is truly flying by isn’t it!? With New York’s recent heatwaves I am personally already craving fall temperatures. Today’s post is all about maximizing your wardrobe to take advantage of both the current season and the upcoming one. I’m thrilled to once again be teaming up with J.McLaughlin to showcase some pieces from their latest collection to highlight items that can be worn both now, worn come fall and worn multiple ways.

I love a summer sweater that’s the right weight to be worn on cooler summer evenings but easily is transitioned to fall. The Annette Sweater is that perfect transitional piece. It’s thin enough for summer wear but also ideal for layering. I adore this cozy piece so much and will no doubt be wearing it year round! I first paired the Annette Sweater with the Petal Shorts that feature the sweetest scalloped edges and topped the look off with these cork sandals that I wore every single day on Nantucket earlier this month. I finished the look with the Rhodes Wicker Clutch that received many a compliment while on island. Here are the sunglasses I’m wearing, too by the way!

Then, for a more Fall-ready look, I styled the sweater with the Madelyn Pants alongside classic and practical accessories including these gorgeous Domina Leather Mules (they’re the most gorgeous cognac color and so comfortable) and the Annie Leather Tote that’s going to be a go-to work bag for me year round.

WEAR TO WORK & WEAR TO WEEKEND

The next piece I’m highlighting is the Baxter Jean which features such a fun print. For a summer weekend spent out and exploring, I paired them with the Annette Sweater and my favorite wicker crossbody bag (last seen here). Also for casual outings, these jeans would look so cute with a t-shirt and denim jacket. For a work-ready look, I paired the Baxter Jean with the crisp white button-down Alcott Shirt alongside the Domina Leather Mules and the Annie Leather Tote. I absolutely love how this look came together and think it is a great outfit for work in the Fall. Do you agree? I think a crewneck cashmere sweater over the button down would also look so chic for work alongside a neutral pump, too. They’re such a fun and versatile pant to style.

A few other pieces I think could transition well include this sweater (that scallop sleeve detail!!), this tie-front blousethis beautiful soft yet lightweight cashmere sweater and these on-trend pants. And my favorite topper for the looks? The dreamy Dara Cashmere Cardigan. I love the fit and feel of this gorgeous sweater.

I am all about pieces that work a myriad of ways. It’s why I am always talking about investing in pieces that make you excited to get dressed vs. buying a lot of fast fashion that you’ll have in your giveaway pile in a year or two. All these pieces seamlessly work with other options in my wardrobe that I wear regularly so I’m already scheming up additional looks in the weeks to come. Which look was your favorite?
