How to Master The Weekend in Style

with The Nat Note

We all know that girl who has the right look for every occasion, can pull together a last minute shindig on a dime, and always finds the best gifts (wrapped to perfection of course!) Meet: Natalie Steen- lawyer, mother and creator of The Nat Note. Natalie’s weekly newsletters have inspired us on many festive looks, vacation attire and party planning home goods. If you haven’t signed up already, waste no time: your inbox will thank you. This week we tapped Natalie to help us create a well-styled weekend at home...

First three things you do on a Saturday morning:

1. Hit the snooze button

2. Coffee with my husband

3. Cartoons with my son

You are hosting a last minute picnic al fresco...

Nat’s Table

If we’re truly picnic-ing it, there shan’t be a table. Instead, we’ll sit on an assortment of block print quilts under cabana-striped, fringed umbrellas and guests will be provided with personal, wicker TV-trays.

Nat’s Menu

Fried chicken and Eton Mess (here’s my favorite recipe).

Nat’s Bar

Mojitos (the mint will keep us from overheating)

What summer trend are you loving this year?

The return of the (small) house party. This summer is one to remember (for better or worse) - and there’s no better/safer place to make memories than your home.

Nat’s Look: She used our Turkish Towel in Multi Optic Stripe  as her tablecloth

J.McLaughlin pieces fit for a summer weekend away

I love how versatile the linen shirts are - wear with white pants, jean shorts, or over your swimsuit.

Nat’s Look: Loris Jeans, Jaylee Linen Shirt, Chiara Polarized Sunglasses, Helena Sandals

Summer Reading Checklist: My inbox

Since hunting for special pieces is such a big part of The Nat Note, tell us what about a few of your biggest shopping victories and favorite finds?

My favorite items to source are those that don’t yet quite exist. Gifting is my love language and there’s nothing I love more than scheming to have something special made for my loved ones. Some of the best commission experiences I’ve had are with Hunt & Hope (modern needlepoints), Kate Jenkins (crochet art), and Mas es Mejor (cube cocktail tables).

How and when did you start creating your beautifully curated collages?

The Nat Note was born in 2017, shortly after I started working as a lawyer. I was glued to my computer and as a way to keep entertained between assignments, I would catch myself going on deep online shopping dives and sending a lot of “you should get this” messages to friends. I came up with the curated collages - the “Notes” - to share the brands and products I found. It started as a creative outlet and eventually grew into what it is now: a weekly newsletter that delivers ready-to-shop styles for women, kids and home.
