What’s In My Wicker Bag:

 Micaela English

Who: Micaela English, Director of Copy & Editorial at J.McLaughlin

Summer Plans: I’ve been living and working from Cape Cod since April. This summer it’s all about simple pleasures—early evening swims in the ocean, local ice cream trips, morning runs, walks with my family, and FaceTime sessions with friends.

The Wicker Bag: The Rumi Tote

Why I Love It: It’s become my everything bag this summer. Basically, the summer equivalent of the Mary Poppins bag where she fits everything but the kitchen sink. It’s retro cool, and easy to clean after the beach.

What's Always in My Bag:

Daily Essential: I’ve become a hand sanitizer connoisseur and love this orange and peppermint scented version. Also, the J.McLaughlin masks are so soft.

Good Luck Charm: My amethyst and quartz crystals go with me everywhere.

Summer Scent: Salt by Ellis Brooklyn. It smells tropical’y salty...and feels almost cooling to the skin.

Tip: I always spray a little perfume on before going for an ocean swim, it makes you smell even better!

Sun Safety: The Sugar Sport Stick by Fresh

Must-Have: My notebook. While I take notes on my phone all day long...little phrases I hear people say on the beach, lyrics from songs...I still love to write in a proper notebook too.

Go-To Beauty: First of all, I’m never without my eye drops, I’ve tried so many brands and I think Rohto really keeps your eyes soothed and bright for the longest time. I’m not a huge foundation fan, but Chanel’s Water Fresh Tint feels like dusting your face with refreshing water and gives you an almost Instagram filtered look. It’s so lightweight. The finishing touch, my friend Paige who works in beauty once taught me to get travel sizes of mascara instead of full size so you can really get close to your inner and lower eyelashes, I love Lancome’s Monsiuer Big, it’s quite glamorous and statement making.

Reading: Writers & Lovers by Lily King, my Mom read this in her book club and said it’s a must!

Listening To: Music is quite inspiring for me, I’m always making very specific playlists depending on my mood. Right now I’m listening to a little of everything for midsummer—the old school tunes of Brazilian singer Chico Buarque, the band Tennis, and H.E.R.

Summer Style: I’ve been wearing a lot of statement tops and sweaters because I’m on conference calls Monday through Friday! I’m loving the new slim-fit ribbed Annette sweater which I just got in the gray color that looks like Nantucket fog, and the Lenny sweater in the royal palm print!
