Today, March 8, 2022, as we celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we are supporting women of all ages & the local organizations in our J.McLaughlin communities that make a big impact, because when one woman gets stronger, it lifts us all higher.

Below, are three women-focused organizations our communities have supported through our local and loyal store events—and the incredible impact they are having on the world, one woman at a time.

Based in Patterson, NJ, Oasis helps carry out educational and social service programs for women entering the workforce to succeed and to help children flourish academically. They also operate a soup kitchen and provide emergency food, clothing, and social support. Their goal— is to help break the cycle of poverty for women and children.

Based in Boston, MA, The Women’s Lunch Place is a day shelter community that supports the development of self-sustaining skills for women experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty. Their staff works with 1800+ women on an annual basis serving each woman’s individual needs with dignity and respect.

Girls on the Run

In Over 175 Local Communities

 

Based in communities across the country, Girls on the Run is a program that strengthens 3rd-8th grade girls’ social, physical, emotional, and behavioral skills to successfully navigate life experiences. Girls on the Run reaches girls at a critical stage, with a goal of them feeling more empowered, knowing they have a voice, are seen and heard, and embrace their unique qualities while coming together.

The New Orleans Chapter of The Links, Incorporated

Formed by women of color in the New Orleans community, in 1957, to deliver transformational service through education, economic development, and public policy.

UNC Lineberger Cancer Center - Breast Cancer Care

The UNC Breast Center takes a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating patients with breast cancer.

L.E.A.D.S. Program at Benedictine University

Leadership, Empowerment, Action, Development, Service (L.E.A.D.S) is a four year program for undergraduate women who demonstrate a desire to grow as leaders. With the goal to develop these leaders to become agents of change for good, women will develop a strong sense of character, embodying courage, confidence and resolve.
